Task 1B

in this case study i will be talking about major and indie artists and the image that they put across to the world through the music videos that they broadcast and i am going to talk about how it is done.

Self Produced - LD (67) is a uk Trap/drill artist that is based in brixton, South London, he is a self produced artist and is not signed to any indie or major labels. from this video you can straight away tell the genre of the song for those who know the genre. the mood is dark and gloomy surrounded by dark faces that are not easily seen. the artist LD himself wears a mask so that he can hide his identity because he was banned from making music by the police. this videos and a lot of his other ones him and his friends display a lot of violent hand signs, that is used to seem intimidating and that is the kind of image that they are trying to get a cross. because he is a self produced artist in brixton he wouldn't have a lot of money to produce a music video so the hence that it is why there is minimal special effects or major location changes.

Indie - Lil Yachty is a trap rapper who is signed to an independent label called QC (Quality Control) this video is a very creative one based around the theme of boats which also relates to his name lil Yachty and also the name of his mixtape lil boat. this video reflexes the artist because the video is weird and funny and strange which matches the appearance of Lil Yatchy and thats the imagine that he is showcasing. from other explains such as gangdam style and what does the fox say you can see that this video got the amount of views that it did because of the video, the amount of animations and special effects that are used catches peoples attention and they talk about it and share it and then thats how it gets viral.

Major - Kendrick Lamar is a rap/ hip hop artist who is signed to interscope records which is a major record label. kendrick lamar is known for his intellectual rap normally speaking on the topic of black people discrimination, slavery and black on back crime which is shown in this video in a more abstract and artistic way that shows how he feels about the concept that he his rapping about. its based in an urban setting and in black and white maybe to represent that there is not bright future ahead or at the present moment.
